Roseburg Police jailed a woman on several charges following a hit and run incident on Wednesday afternoon.

An RPD report said at approximately 4:00 p.m. officers responded to the Washington Avenue Bridge in the 500 block of Southeast Washington Avenue after an SUV hit a bicyclist, who was riding on the bridge. The SUV reportedly fled the scene but later crashed into a van at the intersection of West Harvard Avenue and Northwest Stewart Parkway.

The driver, 37-year old Cassy Anderson, was allegedly visibly intoxicated and was taken into custody. Anderson was charged with a felony count of hit and run, third-degree assault, reckless driving, recklessly endangering another person, failure to perform the duties of a driver with property damage and driving under the influence of intoxicants. Anderson was detained without bail.

The victim was transported to CHI Mercy Medical Center by ambulance but was later transferred to Peace Health Sacred Heart Medical Center at Riverbend in Springfield, due to her injuries. She is in fair condition at last check, according to a hospital spokesperson. The SUV was impounded. The van that was hit was able to be driven from the scene.
