A Myrtle Creek man was taken to the hospital following a motorcycle wreck on Thursday.

A Douglas County Sheriff’s Office report said at 5:35 p.m. a motorcycle was westbound in the 2000 block of Gazley Road in the Myrtle Creek area, traveling at approximately 40 miles per hour. The rider told a deputy he had swerved to avoid a vehicle that was stopped in the roadway and lost control of his bike. The motorcycle crashed off the embankment on the opposite side of the roadway.

The man sustained significant road rash and a laceration on his left arm. He was transported to CHI Mercy Medical Center by ambulance. The rider was cited for a violation-count of driving while suspended. A towing company took possession of the motorcycle.
