Roseburg Police jailed a man after an alleged elude incident on Wednesday night.

An RPD report said at approximately 9:15 p.m. officers witnessed an SUV speeding eastbound on Highway 138E. After turning to pursue the vehicle, it reportedly took off at over 100 miles per hour and continued to speed away. Officers briefly pursued the vehicle until it yielded near the 3800 block of Buckhorn Road.

Officers took the 37-year-old driver into custody, and he admitted to trying to elude them. The man was charged with attempting to elude a police officer in a vehicle and for failure to carry and present an operator license. He was detained without bail.
