A transient was jailed for driving a stolen vehicle on Friday night.
A Douglas County Sheriff’s Office report said at 7:45 p.m. a victim called dispatch and said his pickup was missing and he suspected that 34-year-old Bethani Brown had taken it.
Deputies located the vehicle at 9:20 p.m. as it was heading up Southeast Rice Avenue in Roseburg. They stopped the pickup at the intersection of Southeast Hamilton Street and Southeast Rice. The driver was detained without incident and there were several indicators of impairment.
Brown was taken into custody and transported to corrections as part of the DUII process. Ultimately Brown was reportedly not cooperative, and a warrant was granted for her blood. She was transported to CHI Mercy Medical Center for a blood draw, then lodged in jail.
Brown was charged with unauthorized use of a motor vehicle, reckless driving and driving under the influence of an intoxicant. She was detained without bail and was released on Sunday.
