COTTAGE GROVE JUVENILE CITED AFTER INCIDENT IN DRAIN

February 12, 2025 10:30 a.m.

A Cottage Grove juvenile was cited after an incident in Drain on Tuesday night.

A Douglas County Sheriff’s Office report said at approximately 10:10 p.m. a victim approached an individual after he was seen in front of a second victim’s vehicle and it appeared he was trying to break into it, in the 100 block of North Cedar Street in Drain.

The suspect then reportedly punched the first victim in the ribs and shoulder checked him before walking off. The first victim then followed the suspect as he was on the phone with DCSO dispatchers. The suspect then went into a random yard, picked up a 2×4 and attempted to hit the first victim with it. At this point, the first victim stopped following the suspect.

When the deputy located the suspect, he had a six-foot long stick in his hands and would not put it down. The deputy displayed his taser and after about ten to fifteen minutes of the suspect not being complaint, he got onto his knees to pray. The deputy took that opportunity to remove the stick from him and guide the suspect onto his stomach.

Medical personnel cleared him from the scene. The deputy spoke with the suspect via a Spanish translator who relayed the name “Alex Cabrella-Jiminez” and said, “he was a man of god”. He was transported to corrections. After being fingerprinted, his identity was discovered to be a 17-year-old. The suspect was transported to the Juvenile Detention Center. He was charged with attempted unauthorized entry into a motor vehicle, unlawful use of a weapon and second-degree disorderly conduct.
