Deputies with the Douglas County Sheriff’s Office are investigating a suspicious fire which took place in the Tenmile area on Tuesday.
A DCSO report said just after 5:00 p.m. Tenmile Rural Fire District requested a deputy to a property in the 200 block of Old Lane. A caller said the two-story home had been burned down and was currently on fire. Upon arrival, the deputy observed a “neat” burning pile of debris where the house had stood, with multiple heavy machinery marks around it. The person reporting the fire said she lived at the house but said a relative owned the property. The woman said she had been staying in a trailer on the property and not inside the house. All her belongings were allegedly located inside the residence.
There were three other active burn piles on the property. The investigation is continuing.
