A sedan evaded a deputy’s attempted freeway traffic stop on Tuesday night.

A Douglas County Sheriff’s Office report said at approximately 8:50 p.m. a deputy was traveling in the right-hand lane of Interstate 5 northbound near the county landfill when he observed a vehicle approaching from behind him in the left-hand lane at a high rate of speed. The vehicle passed the deputy and then slowed down.

The deputy got behind the vehicle and activated his overhead lights. The sedan maintained its speed momentarily then accelerated at a high rate of speed. The deputy followed the vehicle to the Harvard Avenue exit, where it left the freeway.

The pursuit was terminated and the deputy lost sight of the sedan when it got onto West Harvard Avenue.
