Roseburg Police jailed a man for a warrant and escaping after an incident on Wednesday.

An RPD report said at 11:00 a.m. officers contacted the 27-year-old in the 1400 block of Northwest Stewart Park Drive. The man was in a camp near the river in a prohibited camping area. The camp had large amounts of trash surrounding it. An officer knew the man had the warrant.

As soon as officers attempted to contact him, the man ran. A foot pursuit ensued, and the suspect was detained a short time later. The warrant was confirmed.

The man was charged with depositing trash within 100 yards of a waterway, third-degree escape and for the warrant. He was detained on $15,000 bail.
