A Winston man died in a logging accident on Thursday.

A Douglas County Sheriff’s Office report said at about 3:20 p.m. dispatchers were notified of a serious injury accident at a logging site in the 15000 block of Upper Cow Creek Road near Azalea. The patient was working for Dancer Logging.

Responders from DCSO, Azalea Fire Department and Glendale Ambulance arrived on scene. Medical personnel attempted resuscitation but eventually declared 49-year-old Justin Godel, deceased.

The Douglas County Medical Examiner’s Office also responded to the accident.
