Winston Police has jailed a man on sex crime charges.

A WPD release said on Wednesday an investigation began regarding 23-year-old Austin Paul Beamer of Winston. It was found that Beamer had allegedly engaged in an online relationship with a juvenile and requested to meet her for sexual contact. Officers located Beamer at his residence, and he was taken into custody.

Beamer was charged with online sexual corruption of a child in the second degree and luring a minor. He was detained without bail. No further information will be released regarding the case.

The release said parents are reminded to monitor their children’s online activity closely and pay attention to who their children are talking to. WPD encourages parents to talk to kids about what is and is not appropriate online activity.
