A Canyonville man was cited for DUII and jailed for being a felon in possession of a firearm on Monday night.
A Douglas County Sheriff’s Office report said at approximately 8:40 p.m. a deputy located a pickup at the end of James Street in Canyonville. The vehicle failed to stop at a stop sign, turning onto Elliot Street. A deputy conducted a traffic stop. The 51-year-old driver was allegedly visibility intoxicated and had beer inside the pickup. The man said he did not have any firearms in the vehicle, but the deputy could see two rifle cases.
The man reportedly refused to do any standard field sobriety tests. He was transported to corrections where he was cited for driving under the influence of intoxicants and refusal to take a breath test. The man was jailed on two counts of being a felon in possession of a firearm. He was detained without bail.
