COUNTY GOVERNMENT ANNOUNCES HOLIDAY CLOSURES

December 24, 2024 3:30 a.m.

Douglas County Commissioners would like to remind citizens that county offices will be closed on Wednesday for Christmas and on Wednesday, January 1st for New Year’s Day.

A county release said that means that offices in the courthouse, Justice Building, Courthouse Annex in Reedsport, transfer stations, fairgrounds, museums, and all external county officers will not be open to the public.

The Umpqua River Lighthouse Museum in Winchester Bay will be open on January 1st for normal business hours and tours. In addition, some county offices may have limited hours or be lightly staffed during the holiday season.

As always, even when county government offices are closed, many officials and employees are still working on special, routine, or emergency projects. That includes the commissioners, juvenile department staff, public works, emergency management, parks and Salmon Harbor departments. Also, sheriff’s deputies, 911 communications and other Sheriff’s Office staff will continue to provide law enforcement protection for residents. Those who have an emergency can still call 911. People who need to reach dispatch for a non-emergency can continue to call 440-4471.
