Thrive Umpqua will hold the Holiday Lights Community Bike Ride on Tuesday, December 17th.
The festive family-friendly event will go through the Hucrest neighborhood of Roseburg. Community partners Bike Walk Roseburg, the Umpqua Velo Club, and the Umpqua Valley Tennis Center are helping Thrive Umpqua with the event.
The leisurely 3.3-mile route is for riders of all abilities. Participants are encouraged to decorate themselves and their bicycles with holiday lights and costumes to enhance the festive atmosphere. Volunteers will be stationed throughout the route to ensure safety and fun for all.
Check-in begins at 5:15 p.m. at the Umpqua Valley Tennis Center on Northwest Stewart Parkway. The ride will begin at 6:00 p.m. It will conclude back at the Tennis Center with complimentary hot beverages and cookies.
Thrive Umpqua Executive Director Jess Hand said, “We had such a great time the last few years doing this ride, so the tradition continues”.
Helmets and bike lights are required for all riders. A limited supply will be available for those who need them. A brief safety talk, led by Bike Walk Roseburg, will take place at 6:00 p.m. before the group departs.
The event is free, but pre-registration is encouraged to ensure enough helmets and lights are available. Register at: https://bit.ly/holidaybikeride24
