TWO ACCIDENTS LEAD TO CLOGGED TRAFFIC ON SOUTHBOUND INTERSTATE FIVE

Two accidents led to clogged traffic on southbound Interstate 5 in the Roseburg area on Monday afternoon.

An Oregon State Police report said just after 4:30 p.m. an SUV was traveling in slowed traffic between the fairgrounds exit and the landfill interchange when the driver was unable to stop in time. His vehicle struck the rear of a compact sedan. Both vehicles had minimal damage. The occupants possibly had minor injuries but refused medical treatment.

At about 5:30 p.m. a sedan was headed southbound near the West Harvard Avenue interchange. The driver was unable stop in time for slowed traffic. Her vehicle struck a second sedan, causing damage to both vehicles. The driver of the first vehicle was transported to CHI Mercy Medical Center. The first vehicle had to be towed from the scene.
