HIGH WIND WARNING IN EFFECT UNTIL 1:00 P.M. FRIDAY

Covering coastal Douglas County:

A High Wind Warning is in effect until 1:00 p.m. Friday for the South Central and Curry County Coast including coastal areas in Douglas County.

Forecasters at the National Weather Service said south winds from 25 to 40 miles per hour with gusts up to 65 miles per hour are possible. The strongest gusts will be along the beaches, headlands and higher coastal terrain.

Forecasters said damaging winds will blow down trees and power lines. Widespread power outages are expected. Travel will be difficult, especially for high profile vehicles.

Residents should remain in the lower levels of their home during the windstorm. Avoid windows, watch for falling debris and tree limbs. Motorists who must drive should use caution.
