A Flood Potential Outlook continues for river flooding and small stream flooding in Douglas, Coos, Curry, Josephine, and Jackson counties.
Forecasters at the National Weather Service said a series of storms is bringing heavy precipitation to Oregon this week. The heaviest rainfall is expected in Curry County where 8 inches of rain is likely. Rainfall rates could briefly approach up to an inch per hour. There is potential for heavy rain through Friday morning.
The Coquille River is expected to approach minor flood stage Thursday or Friday.
Creeks and streams below recent burn scars will likely be muddy. There is also the potential for flash flooding and debris flows from burn scars. While the Archie Creek Fire and McKinney Fire burn scars are not new, they continue to be of concern during heavy rainfall events, like what is expected this week.
