OREGON HOUSE REPUBLICANS CHOOSE LEADERSHIP TEAM

November 19, 2024 9:40 a.m.

Monday evening, House Republicans elected their leadership team as they prepare for the 2024 session of the Oregon State Legislature.

Representative Christine Drazan of Canby was selected to serve the GOP members as their new leader. Representative Lucetta Elmer of McMinnville was chosen as deputy leader and Representative Virgle Osborne of Roseburg was elected as Whip.

Drazan said, “I’m deeply honored that my Republican colleagues have placed their trust and confidence in me to serve as their leader”. Drazen said, I’m looking forward to fighting alongside them every day for a future that puts the people of Oregon ahead of political partisanship. We have a lot of work to do. The status quo simply isn’t working for Oregon families. Our caucus is united in our resolve to push for policies that put people ahead of politics, to hold those in power accountable for their failures, and to get Oregon back on the right track”.

Outgoing House Republican Leader Jeff Helfrich of Hood River said, “It’s no secret that 2025 is going to be a challenging session, but I am confident that Representative-Elect Drazan will be a formidable leader to push back against the Democrats attempts to raise taxes and pass radically progressive policies”. Helfrich said, “I am excited to support Christine as she leads our caucus and becomes the voice for common=sense Oregonians statewide”.

Drazan said, “I’m thrilled to have Representatives Elmer and Osborne joining me in their new roles as we prepare for next year’s legislative session”.

State Representative Virgle Osborne will be on Inside Douglas County Wednesday at 12:30 p.m. on News Radio 93-9 FM and 1240 KQEN.
