FLOOD POTENTIAL OUTLOOK FOR RIVER AND SMALL STREAM FLOODING

The National Weather Service has issued a Flood Potential Outlook for river flooding and small stream flooding on rivers and streams in Douglas, Coos, Curry, Josephine and Jackson counties.

A series of storms will bring heavy precipitation to Oregon this week. The heaviest rainfall is expected in Curry County where they will likely see 8 inches of rain through the week. Rainfall rates could briefly approach up to an inch per hour. There is potential for heavy rain from Tuesday night through Friday morning.

Area small streams could begin to flood early Wednesday morning. The Chetco River is expected to peak sometime Thursday which could cause flooding if the crest coincides with high tides. The Coquille River is expected to approach minor flood stage Thursday or Friday.
