ROSEBURG POLICE CITE 3 PEOPLE FOR PROHIBITED CAMPING ON WEDNESDAY

Roseburg Police cited 3 people for prohibited camping on Wednesday.

An RPD report said at 11:10 a.m. officers contacted a 39-year at her camp near the intersection of Northwest Stewart Parkway and Northwest Renann Avenue. She was in her tent which was next to the sidewalk. There was trash covering a 15-foot by 15-foot area, which was about 35 feet from the water’s edge. The camp was in violation of the time, place and manner ordinance. The woman was released after being cited and issued trash bags to clean up her mess.

At 2:15 p.m. officers contacted a 51-year-old man and a 34-year-old woman at Gaddis Park in the 800 block of Northwest Highland Street. Their camp was set up directly under the Interstate 5 bridge. The area is clearly marked with “No Trespassing” signs. Both people had previously been warned about trespassing at this location before. The tent was erected after 8:00 a.m., it was set up in a prohibited area on Oregon Department of Transportation property and was not set up within the “manner” parameters of the camping ordinance. Both people were released after being cited.
