Roseburg Police jailed a man following a stabbing, and a lengthy stand-off on Tuesday night.

An RPD report said at 8:25 p.m. numerous officers and deputies from the Douglas County Sheriff’s Office responded to Deer Creek Park in the 200 block of Southeast Pine Street, after a caller said there had been a stabbing.

Officers located the victim, with multiple stab wounds, lying on the ground. The suspect, 45-year-old Joshua Saunders, was found hiding in the brush along the riverbank with two knives. Saunders reportedly refused to drop the knives. Officers negotiated with him for several hours before eventually deploying a taser and taking him into custody.

The victim was transported to CHI Mercy Medical Center where he was treated for non-threatening injuries and later released.

Saunders was charged with first-degree assault, unlawful use of a weapon, second-degree disorderly conduct, and for a failure to appear warrant. Bail was set at $8,750.
