November 13, 2024 6:50 a.m. (Update 9:00 a.m.)
An outage is impacting over 1,100 Douglas Electric Cooperative meters in the Elkton, Drain, and Scottsburg areas.
An update from the utility said this is due to a loss of transmission to the Elkton and Scottsburg substations as of 3:15 a.m. Wednesday.
At 6:00 a.m. crews coordinated with the Bonneville Power Administration to attempt restoration but were unsuccessful. That means there is another fault on the line that crews did not find. Much of the transmission line that feeds the Elkton substation, and in turn the Scottsburg substation, is off road and not easily accessible so it has to be patrolled via UTV or on foot.
Due to the outage, Elkton Charter School is on a two-hour delay.
Update:
Power restored to most customers at 8:00 a.m.
Elkton Charter School closed for the day
