Sutherlin Police jailed a man following an alleged elude incident early Friday.
An SPD report said at 12:10 a.m. an officer observed a pickup being driven at 46 miles per hour in a 30 mile per hour zone near the intersection of West Central Avenue and Ponderosa Drive. The driver, identified as 23-year-old Jordan Allen, immediately fled through Sutherlin, before heading north on Interstate 5. The vehicle eventually crashed at the Metz Hill northbound off-ramp, going into the guardrail.
Allen was detained without further incident. He stated that he fled because he had a misdemeanor warrant for his arrest. During a search of the pickup, officers reportedly found a Kimber .45 handgun. It was found to be stolen out of Medford.
Allen was charged with attempting to elude police in a vehicle, reckless driving, recklessly endangering another, first-degree theft, third-degree criminal mischief, unlawful possession of a firearm and a probation violation. He was detained without bail.
