A Roseburg woman was seriously injured after a DUII crash on Wednesday night.
A Douglas County Sheriff’s Office report said just before 9:00 p.m. the 69-year-old was eastbound in the 4300 block of Old Melrose Road when her vehicle almost struck a passing vehicle, whose driver had his son in the vehicle along with an off-duty deputy. The off-duty deputy watched in his mirror as the first vehicle crashed into a ditch.
The driver was not seat belted and ended up in the passenger seat. The woman admitted to drinking alcohol and a blood test at CHI Mercy Medical Center showed her blood alcohol level was .23, nearly 3 times the legal limit for intoxication. She admitted that she shouldn’t have been driving.
The woman was transferred to Peace Health Sacred Heart Medical Center at Riverbend in Springfield, due to her injuries. She was cited for DUII alcohol, reckless driving and 3 counts of recklessly endangering another, before being released at Mercy.
