WINTER STORM WARNING ABOVE 5,000 FEET THROUGH FRIDAY AT 5:00 P.M.

A Winter Storm Warning remains in effect for mountain areas in southern Oregon above 5,000 feet through 5:00 p.m. Friday.

Forecasters at the National Weather Service said heavy snow is expected with accumulations of between 1 and 2 feet. Winds will gust as high as 50 miles per hour.

The Warning area applies to the Southern Oregon Cascades and Siskiyou Mountains. It includes Crater Lake National Park, Diamond Lake and highways 230, 62 and 138 as well as Highway 58 at Willamette Pass.

Forecasters said travel could be very difficult to impossible. Gusty winds could bring down tree branches. Those who must travel should keep tire chains, a flashlight, blankets, food, water, medications, and a fully charged phone with them.
