Roseburg Police jailed 2 people and cited 41 for prohibited camping, between Friday morning and Sunday morning.

An RPD report said the biggest group – 27 people – were cited Friday at 12:00 p.m. in the 500 block of Northeast Stephens Street because their camps were in violation of the time, place and manner ordinance.

Other contacts were made in the 200 block of Southeast Pine Street, below the disc golf course in the 1400 block of Northwest Stewart Park Drive, at Gaddis Park in the 800 block of Northeast Highland Street, near the corner of Southeast Stephens Street and Northeast Diamond Lake Boulevard, and at the duck pond in the 1000 block of Northwest Garden Valley Boulevard.

One person had a flatbed trailer converted to a camping trailer. Another had a wood-built shed on wheels along with a cast iron wood burning stove and what was described as “copius amounts of wood” around. They were both charged on a criminal count of prohibited camping. Bail for each of them was set at $5,000.

The other 41 people were released after their citations were issued.
