WASHINGTON MAN INJURED AFTER DODGING DEER ON MOTORCYCLE

A Washington man was injured after dodging a deer while on his motorcycle Friday afternoon.

A Douglas County Sheriff’s Office report said just after 2:00 p.m. the 82-year-old from Mount Vernon was riding in the 7000 block of Driver Valley Road in the Oakland area when a deer jumped out in front of him. The man swerved to avoid the animal and landed his bike on its side. The rider had a head injury but was wearing his helmet at the time of the crash. Nothing of suspicion was observed on scene.

The man was life-flighted to Peace Health Sacred Heart Medical Center at River Bend in Springfield.
