A Roseburg man died in a motorcycle accident in north county on Friday afternoon.

A Douglas County Sheriff’s Office report said just after 3:40 p.m. a caller said they had found a motorcycle crashed in a field in the 12000 block of Elkhead Road in the Oakland area. The caller went to render aid and saw that the rider was deceased.

After investigating the scene, it appeared the rider was headed south on Elkhead Road and was rounding a curve. He failed to negotiate a corner, put his motorcycle sideways and slid off the road into gravel, going down a steep embankment.

The man was identified as 88-year-old Duane Huff. His next of kin was notified.
