MYRTLE CREEK MAN JAILED FOR REPORTED ASSAULT INCIDENT

A Myrtle Creek man was jailed for a reported assault incident on Wednesday afternoon.

A Douglas County Sheriff’s Office report at 2:00 p.m. the friend of a victim called dispatch, stating that the 66-year-old had assaulted the victim and then produced a firearm which he pointed at himself, threatening suicide. This was in the 1100 block of North Old Pacific Highway in the Myrtle Creek area.

When the deputies arrived, all the parties had calmed down and there was no firearm present. The victim advised that the suspect had gotten upset with her and punched her in the side of the neck causing serious pain, along with redness and swelling.

The man admitted to the assault and was taken into custody without incident. He was detained without bail.
