UMPQUA NATIONAL FOREST MOVES TO LOW FIRE DANGER

October 23, 2024 11:00 a.m.

Effective Wednesday, the Umpqua National Forest has moved to Low Fire Danger and Industrial Fire Precaution Levels are removed.

A UNF release said Public Use Restrictions were terminated on September 19th. Currently there is only one administrative fire closure impacting the Tiller Ranger District on Forest Service Road 500, within the Devils Knob Fire footprint.

The reductions in fire restrictions come from rainfall and extended weather forecast patterns which are contributing to moderating fire conditions. This allows for safe resumption of activities on the forest.

Fire Management Specialist Sara Billings said, “While conditions are moderating, we cannot let our guard down”. Billings said, “We encourage everyone to enjoy the forest responsibly and continue to take the necessary precautions to prevent wildfires”.
