A Roseburg man was jailed for a felony count of driving while suspended early Tuesday morning.

A Douglas County Sheriff’s Office report said at 1:00 a.m. a caller said a 25-year-old man had taken her vehicle without her permission, from a residence in the 2000 block of Austin Road in Green. The caller claimed the man had been intoxicated and likely still was when he took the sedan.

Later the vehicle passed a deputy on Carnes Road near Green Elementary School. The sedan accelerated and the deputy lost sight of it near Del Mar Drive and Circle Drive. The deputy located the vehicle back at the caller’s home. The man came out of the residence and admitted his wrongdoing and said that he was guilty. He was taken into custody. A probation violation charge was added. The man was detained without bail.
