TRANSIENT JAILED FOR WARRANT/FALSE INFORMATION

Deputies with the Douglas County Sheriff’s Office jailed a transient for a warrant and for providing false information on Wednesday.

A DCSO report said shortly after 2:30 p.m. the 31-year-old was contacted near the corner of Northwest Pine Street and Southwest 5th Street in Canyonville, after his vehicle was called in for leaking diesel. The man allegedly provided the deputy with a fake name.

He was taken into custody on his warrant which was confirmed. The man said he lied about his identity due to knowing about the warrant. He was also charged with providing false information to a police officer and was detained without bail.
