On Tuesday, staff with the City of Reedsport was contacted regarding a sewage spill from a manhole near the 1800 block of Decker Point. City Manager Deanna Schafer said wastewater staff investigated and determined that a spill of approximately 40,000 gallons of raw sewage had been taken place. Schafer said the issue was determined to be a blocked line. The spill potentially reached Schofield Creek.

Residents are asked to avoid the area as city crews are working on the situation. Schafer said the Oregon Department of Environmental Quality was immediately contacted and notified of the incident.
