Feeding Umpqua, a program of the United Community Action Network, will have its Empty Bowls Project Dinner Monday night from 5:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m.
The event will be held at the Joyce Morgan Food Distribution Center on UCAN’s campus on Northeast Stephens Street, just north of Roseburg
Empty Bowls is an international grassroots effort to fight hunger, which was created by the Imagine Render Group. Potters and other craftspeople have worked with community members to create handcrafted bowls. Attendees can select a bowl and enjoy a meal of soup and bread. At the end of the evening, they can choose to keep their bowl or donate it back for future years. Locally, funds raised from the event will support Feeding Umpqua, which distributes nearly two million pounds of food annually to over 35 food sites in the community.
Over a dozen local restaurants and businesses are participating and donating soup to this year’s dinner. Feeding Umpqua will also make a dessert soup.
The evening will include music. Wine will be provided by Whitetail Ridge Vineyards.
Tickets are $35 per person in advance or $40 at the door. They can be purchased online at: https://www.ucancap.org/empty-bowls-dinner/
