OSP SEIZES NEARLY A HALF MILLION FENTANYL-LACED PILLS-DOUGLAS COUNTY

September 27, 2024 4:00 a.m.

An Oregon State Police trooper seized 100 pounds of fentanyl-laced pills earlier this week in Douglas County.

An OSP release issued Thursday said on Tuesday at about 1:00 p.m. a trooper stopped a vehicle for a traffic violation on Interstate 5. Upon contact with the driver of the SUV, the trooper suspected possible criminal activity and received consent to search the vehicle.

The trooper discovered and seized the pills – approximately 450,000 individual doses – from inside the vehicle. The suspect acknowledged that the drugs were headed for Portland.

Due to the large quantity of illegal drugs seized, the suspect, 32-year-old Gustavo Alonso Franco Valenzuela of Los Angeles, was arrested and federally charged with delivery of a controlled substance.

The investigation is ongoing and no additional information is currently available, according to OSP.
