Roseburg Police jailed a man Thursday for a reported prior theft incident.

An RPD report said the 47-year-old had been identified as the suspect in a bike theft earlier in the day. He was contacted at approximately 6:00 p.m. but fled on the bike. He hid under the Stewart Park bridge but was located later in the 1300 block of Southeast Stephens Street.

The bike was recovered, and the man was detained. He was taken into custody for the theft and was also found to have a serviceable warrant out of the Florence Police Department. The man was charged with second-degree theft and for the warrant. Bail was set at $7,600.
