The City of Sutherlin is having the grand opening of Ford’s Pond Community Park on Friday.
A city release said a ribbon cutting ceremony will be held at 2:00 p.m. with refreshments provided. The event will continue until 4:00 p.m. The 202-acre park now features a completely paved 1.7-mile path which encircles Ford’s Pond. Interpretive panels highlight the features recreationists will see as they walk through the park.
There is a brand new, all-inclusive playground that welcomes children of all ages to play, explore and enjoy the area. The park has covered pavilions, picnic tables, benches, restroom facilities, and even a concreate table tennis table.
Friends of Ford’s Pond are working to bring fun recreational activities to the park, so even more people can enjoy it. Learn more about the public/private partnership that has made this park a reality by going to: www.fordspond.org.
