Roseburg Police jailed a man for an alleged theft incident on Tuesday evening.

An RPD report said at 6:30 p.m. officers contacted 46-year-old William Cantwell near the Public Safety Center on Southeast Douglas Avenue. Cantwell was reportedly captured on camera tampering with a security camera before it was disconnected and stolen.

The man admitted to being on the property and going up to the camera to check it out. Cantwell was charged with second-degree counts of theft and trespass, and for third-degree criminal mischief. He was detained without bail.
