GARDEN VALLEY BOULEVARD MAINTENANCE THIS WEEKEND

September 4, 2024 3:20 a.m.

Drivers should use caution and expect detours and delays when road maintenance will close a short section of Northwest Garden Valley Boulevard in Roseburg starting this Saturday.

A city release said the Roseburg Public Works Department has hired a contractor to repair the road base on a 100-foot section of Garden Valley Boulevard between Northeast Stephens Street and Northeast Dee Streets. Work to repair a grade failure below the road surface will be performed between 7:00 p.m. Saturday and 6:00 a.m. on Monday September 9th.

Traffic control and signs will be in place to detour motorists around the closure. Traffic moving north on Stephens Street will be required to detour further north onto Northeast Stewart Parkway and then use Northeast Airport Road. Southbound traffic on Stephens Street will be detoured around the closure by heading further south to Northeast Chestnut Avenue and then turning north onto Northeast Cedar Street.

The release said challenges with summer road projects include accommodating vehicle and pedestrian traffic through work zones and keeping construction workers safe in an era of distracted driving. Drivers are asked not to text on cell phones in a construction zone.
