DIAMOND COMPLEX 73 PERCENT CONTAINED, 11,152 ACRES

August 28, 2024 10:15 a.m.

The Diamond Complex, burning on the Umpqua National Forest, remains 73 percent contained and is up to 11,152 acres as of midday Wednesday.

A UNF update said containment increased by one percent on Tuesday, despite the decrease of relative humidity and dryer conditions. Lower relative humidities and higher temperatures are leading to an increase in smoke activity. Infrared flights show additional heat sources, though all remain within the fire perimeters. Fire crews continue to patrol and mop up, locating and extinguishing areas of residual heat to the extent necessary on the fire edges. Excess equipment is being backhauled and relocated as necessary.

The Middle Fork Fire in the northwest corner of Crater Lake National Park remains at 5,280 acres, with containment up to 27 percent.

Fire updates:

*Pine Bench Fire remains at 3,990 acres and 56 percent contained

*Potter Fire is still at 3,416 acres and 23 percent contained.
