STRUCTURE FIRE CONTAINED TO GARAGE

August 28, 2024 9:20 a.m.

A structure fire was contained to a garage in Green on Tuesday afternoon.

Battalion Chief Mitch Doss of Central Douglas Fire & Rescue said just before 4:10 p.m. crews were dispatched to a reported structure fire on Sunburst Court off Ryland Drive. Doss said initial reports indicated the garage was on fire and the house was filling with smoke.

Doss said thanks to the efficient response of firefighters, the fire did not extend to the living quarters of the residence. Although the garage suffered significant damage, Doss said the most important thing to note is that the occupants and their pets were able to get out of the structure safely. No injuries were reported by residents or the firefighters working at the scene.

CDF&R responded to the incident with three fire engines and two command units, totaling 12 personnel. Due to the heavy fire damage, crews could not determine the cause of the fire. Pacific Power assisted crews at the scene. The Red Cross was notified and assisted the occupants of the home.
