August 23, 2024 5:45 a.m.

The National Weather Service says an abnormal weather pattern for this time of year, including especially cloudy conditions, means the Umpqua Valley will have a cooler high temperature than earlier expected for Friday.

Forecasters told News Radio 93-9 FM and 1240 KQEN that the mercury is expected to reach only 62 degrees at the Roseburg Regional Airport on Friday. Earlier weather models were predicting a high of around 70 degrees for the day. In fact, Friday will have the coolest high temperature Roseburg has experienced since May 7th, when the high was 60 degrees. The normal high temperature for this point in August is 85 degrees.

Its possible Friday may have the lowest high temperature for the date on record.
