Roseburg Police jailed a man for alleged theft and a restraining order violation on Saturday.

An RPD report said on July 7th, officers received a report of a stolen phone. During the investigation, 39-year-old Christopher Coles was discovered to be a person of interest in the case. On Saturday Coles was arrested on a separate case and questioned. He admitted to taking the phone, but said he returned it. Officers knew the phone was never returned. He was charged with first-degree theft.

Saturday Coles was contacted at a business in the 2100 block of Northwest Stewart Parkway after establishing probable cause to arrest him on a previous restraining order violation.

Other charges were added. Coles was detained on $12,500 bail.
