DIXON FIRE ESTIMATED AT 1,600 ACRES

August 12, 2024 3:40 a.m.

The Dixon Fire, formerly the Tiller Trail Fire, is estimated to be about 1,600 acres as of Sunday.

An Umpqua National Forest update said crews continue to work diligently to contain the fire and expand upon the hard work of initial attack resources. This includes extending, strengthening and tying in sections of fire line and expanding structural preparations. After the smoke inversion cleared, aerial assets were used to support firefighting operations on the ground. Structural protection is now being provided by Oregon State Fire Marshal task forces from the Rogue Valley, along with Lincoln, Linn and Benton counties.

OSFM Green Incident Management Team and Oregon Department of Forestry Incident Management Team 2 were brief Sunday afternoon and are assuming unified command of the fire as of Monday morning.
