A Glide man was cited for DUII and careless driving by the Douglas County Sheriff’s Office early Monday.

A DCSO report said at 12:40 a.m. the 39-year-old crashed his pickup on the corner of Winston Section Road and Hooten Road. The man advised that he was traveling south on Winston Section Road when a deer ran out in front of his vehicle. He tried to evade the deer by swerving but was ultimately unsuccessful and rolled his truck into the ditch on Winston Section Road.

The driver admitted to having two shots of vodka and performed poorly on standard field sobriety tests. He was taken into custody for driving under the influence of intoxicants. His blood alcohol level was 0.06 percent after he provided two breath samples.

The man was released after being cited.
