36 ACTIVE LARGE FIRES, OVER 1.2 MILLION ACRES HAVE BURNED IN OREGON

There are currently 36 active large fires in Oregon.

An update from the Oregon Department of Forestry said approximately 9,971 personnel are assigned to the fires, not including many of the local and agency government employees, landowners, forestland operators and community members.

The largest blaze remains the Durkee Fire, burning 5 miles east of Durkee, in Baker County. It is listed at 293,390 acres and 51 percent contained, as of late Tuesday. High pressure, hot temperatures and low humidity are returning to the fire areas this week and are expected to last at least through the weekend.

Oregon has had 1,261 fires year to date, with 489 of them burning on ODF-protected land. Over 1.2 million acres of land has burned.
