The seven fires of the Homestead Complex are up to 1,636 acres and remain 4 percent contained.
An Umpqua National Forest update said current weather is helping to shade fuels and reduce fire activity and intensity. Increased humidity will also increase the drying time of fuels, helping reduce the fire’s rate of spread.
On Sunday, fire activity increased on the 212-acre Reynolds Butte Fire. Torching trees caused the fire to spot over the dozer line. Two helicopters loaned by a nearby fire dropped five buckets of water on the spot fires to assist fire crews on the ground working to hold it within the dozer line.
Crews and cooperators continue to construct indirect fire line on the 591-acre No Man Fire. The fire has been active, with backing and short runs up the drainages toward the fire line. Hotshots have finished constructing fire line and hose lays around the 153-acre Salmon 33 Fire. Fire activity remains moderate to low, with only 11 acres of growth. Crews anticipate completing indirect fire line construction on the 442-acre Horse Heaven Creek Fire. Firefighters are also scouting for direct line opportunities.
Crews are improving fire line on the 133-acre Bullpup Fire by clearing more brush. The fire increased in activity Sunday due to lower humidities and greater windspeeds. The 71-acre Fuller Lake Fire increased as it moved toward an area of down and dead vegetation, growing four acres. Crews continue to monitor and patrol the 34-acre Lost Bucket Fire, which remains within containment lines.
