Sutherlin Police jailed a man Monday for an alleged prior disturbance.

An SPD report said on July 9th two calls came in regarding a disturbance in the 300 block of Pine Street. Neighbors reported hearing a male versus female verbal altercation and then one to two shots fired from a firearm. Units arrived on the scene and found a female victim had been involved but had just left moments earlier. A subsequent investigation revealed that a firearm was discharged in the air, and the female victim was assaulted during the disturbance. Pitner was detained on Monday and held for second-degree assault, unlawful use of a weapon, pointing a firearm at another, menacing, interfering with a peace officer and second-degree disorderly conduct. Pitner was held on $30,000 bail.
