A Riddle man was jailed after an alleged menacing incident late Friday night.

A Douglas County Sheriff’s Office report said just after 11:00 p.m. deputies responded to the 14000 block of North Myrtle Road in the Myrtle Creek area after a text to dispatchers said there was a disturbance with a firearm.

While responding, deputies were able to get ahold of the texter who claimed that 18-year-old Logan Preston had shown up at the location intoxicated, attempting to start a fight. The texter said Preston pulled out a gun and pointed it to the ground while asking people if they wanted to dance. The suspect eventually left and headed towards Myrtle Creek. Preston reportedly passed a responding unit, nearly hitting it.

Deputies turned around and caught up with the suspect’s pickup at Bilger Creek. A deputy contacted Preston who allegedly clearly showed signs of impairment. The man admitted to being in a verbal argument but denied anything with the firearm. Preston performed standard field sobriety tests and reportedly did so poorly.

Preston was taken into custody and transported to the Myrtle Creek Police Department where he provided a breath sample with a blood alcohol level of .15 percent, nearly twice the legal limit for intoxication. The man was charged with five counts of recklessly endangering another person, reckless driving, menacing, second-degree disorderly conduct and for driving under the influence of intoxicants-alcohol. Preston was detained without bail.
