An Excessive Heat Warning remains in effect through 9:00 p.m. Monday for Central Douglas County and its eastern foothills, including Roseburg, Sutherlin and Toketee Falls.

Forecasters at the National Weather Service said high temperatures of 105 to 110 degrees are expected. Overnight lows will be in the mid to upper 60s through Monday.

Heat related illnesses increase significantly during extreme heat events, particularly for those working or participating in outdoor activities. Area rivers will be cold and can cause shock to swimmers.

Forecasters said residents should drink plenty of fluids, stay in an air-conditioned room, stay out of the sun, and check up on relatives and neighbors. Children and pets should not be left in unattended vehicles. Car interiors will reach lethal temperatures in a matter of minutes.

Take extra precautions when outside. Wear lightweight and loose-fitting clothing. Try to limit strenuous activities to early morning or evening. Take action when symptoms of heat exhaustion and heat stroke are seen.
