Deputies with the Douglas County Sheriff’s Office arrested a man following an escape and resisting incident on Monday.
A DCSO report said at 2:10 p.m. a deputy saw 36-year-old Vincent Rios of Riddle walking in the 2500 block of Canyonville-Riddle Road and knew Rios had an active felony warrant for his arrest. The deputy attempted to contact Rios, but the suspect allegedly took off running when the deputy exited his patrol vehicle.
A foot pursuit ensued toward Evergreen Ridge Road until the deputy lost him in thick brush. Witnesses stated they saw Vincent running on Evergreen Ridge Road, likely going towards his residence. Units were searching in a large shop near his last known location in the 200-block of Evergreen Ridge Road and located Rios hiding on an elevated platform behind a tarp. Rios eventually came down and was secured in handcuffs and placed in the back of a patrol vehicle.
Rios was charged with third-degree escape, resisting arrest and a parole violation. He was detained on $5,000 bail.
